I do pray and always keep faith with Allah and have realized I should pray to Allah in my happy and sad times.
But the scars they are leaving are affecting my confidence to the point where I feel like it is not worth me living.
Do you have any dua for acne and scarring?I would like to know is there any supplication I can recite to cure my acne and my acne marks?
I have tried everything and nothing works. I'm starting to lose hope, but I am still praying to Allah.
Please help me!
Answer
In this counseling answer:
Many reasons can cause acne on your face despite the fact that acne during teenager and young adulthood is completely normal due to the hormone changes.
Acnes might occur due to food intolerance, some hormone issues, stressful lifestyle, or even traumatic events and unstable mental health! So, consider all and if you can pinpoint to certain possible causes, then work on them and change.
I would suggest finding a very good dermatologist who looks at your problem in a complex way. She might send you to further tests of endocrinology, gastroenterology, psychologist, or else.
Boost your confidence.
Surround yourself with people who care and appreciate the person you are and not how you look or dress.
Be a role model.
I strongly advice that if at any time you have such thoughts again, you call your local suicide hotline.
Salam Aleikom,
Thank you for writing to us.
I am really sorry that you have been going through such frustrations that makes you write us “I feel like it is not worth me living.”
Sister, unfortunately, you have not indicated where you are writing from. However, I strongly advice that if at any time you have such thoughts again, you call your local suicide hotline. They will surely help you!
Why Does Allah Test Us?
Sister, Allah has not created us to suffer. Yes, we are tested, all of us, but never with something we would not be able to deal with. (Quran, 2:286) I am sure you know this.
We are tested for many reasons.
1, To worship Allah
(Surah 29: 2-3)
2, To wash away our sins
The Prophet (saw) said:“No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even if it were the prick of a thorn.” (Bukhari, Muslim).
3, To train their patience and endurance
(Surah 3: 146)
3, Tests often lead to greater blessing
“Perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.”(Surah 4: 19)
You are tested with acne on your face – just like many teenagers and young adults who suffer from them. I feel your pain sister, but be comforted that you are not alone.
I am pretty sure there are forums and Facebook groups where you can find people with the same problem. Please reach out to them. Ask them tips about what they do, and how they overcome this difficulty.
The reasons behind acne
Many reasons can cause acne on your face despite the fact that acne during teenager and young adulthood is completely normal due to the hormone changes.
Do you live a healthy lifestyle? Do you eat lots of fatty food? Besides being a counselor, I am a fitness trainer and nutrition consultant, and I can tell unhealthy lifestyle is one of the major underlying problems of most diseases, physical, and mental frustrations we experience.
Do not stop at one doctor’s opinion. Go to another one, consult the third one. The more opinion and test results you have, the clearer the picture about the problem.

Boost your confidence
What do you need in order to feel relaxed and OK at this state where you are currently at – with acne on your face? Yes, you are working on getting rid of them with the dermatologist and to find the reason. But what do you need to feel OK RIGHT NOW?
Here I collected you some tips:
Put some Foundation on your face
Maybe you can put some foundation on your face. Yes, you will not cover them all, they will still be there, but slightly less noticeable. I am not a dermatologist, but my experience is that if you have oily skin, foundation might even help you get the acne dry off.
Socialize with friends who accept you as you are
Acnes on the face should not even be a topic to talk about. I mean your skin is like this, another person’s skin is dark, the other person blue and grey eyes…Surround yourself with people who care and appreciate the person you are and not how you look or dress.
Show your talent
You are a beautiful, amazing creation of Allah with many talents and values. Find them, strengthen them, and do not let these acne define you.
Do things you enjoy
Read, garden, walk, do sport…anything that reminds you of how beautiful life is, despite your frustration.
Write a blessing journal
I personally love writing a lot, so I prefer not having a journal because I will not do anything else just writing the whole day. ☺ But one thing I do write down because I find it works much better than just thinking about it.
This is your daily blessings, things you are grateful for honestly. The sunshine, a meeting, a good food, a success at work or school…Anything. Seeing them written down helps appreciate life a lot. You might also want to try it.
Be a role model
This is my favorite advice to you. ☺
Have you ever watched TEDX talks? There are many on Youtube. Check it out. Do you know what is common in all speakers who have been to that stage?
All have a story of hardship. All have gone through something we often cannot imagine happening to us. Death of a loved one, a horrific accident, a huge failure in business. These people have created something outstanding from their hardship. A project that helps others. They wrote books. Made a successful company and showed that nothing is impossible, biznillah.
I can imagine you on that stage. You have experienced something terrible with these acne that have made you feel “it is not worth living.” But you have chosen life and you have created something awesome that helps others go through the same, successfully, as you have done, inshallah.
You might want to start a blog and write about your daily life struggles. Try different methods, creams, and share your experience with others. Get together with other “acne people” and create a project. Make awareness campaigns that life with acne is worth living too, and let’s stop showing fake beautiful faces on the ads.
Every success starts with hardship. As Allah says: With every hardship comes ease.” Use this hardship sister for something outstanding.
Islamic Solutions
Islam is beautiful because it provides us with lots of advice for all aspects of our life including hardships. My top 3 advise would be:
1, “Look at those who are beneath you and do not look at those who are above you, for it is more suitable that you should not consider as less the blessing of Allah.”
Look at those who do not have a leg. Whose hair has fallen out. Whose face was destroyed by acid. I know our problem is always the most hurtful. But remembering these gives relief.
2, Say the morning and night duas, in particular to the last 3 suras 3 times. These supplications will protect you from any harm and sadness during the day and night, inshallah. Duas work!
3, Here are the best times for supplication. make duas at these times. Ask Allah sincerely to make this test easy for you and remove these acnes from your face, biznillah.
I hope you find my response beneficial,
Salam,
