Value Your Time – Use it, Don’t Abuse it

Allah has brought us into existence in this world with a specific time frame. And Allah has kept for everyone something known as ‘a door of death’; every one shall cross that door.

The minute we are born, the clock starts ticking, and it doesn’t stop ticking. When you’re sleeping, it ticks; when you’re walking, it ticks… So let’s not waste time.

Allah has warned us that time is of essence. Every moment that you have should be utilized in a way that the day you meet with your maker, you will be proud of how you used that moment.

Don’t Waste Your Time

This is something that Allah has definitely mentioned in so many places in the Quran, and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has reminded us constantly not to waste our time. He mentions:

There are two gifts of Allah that many people take for granted, many people don’t realize the value of: time and health. (Al-Bukhari)

A person’s health is taken for granted until the day it starts diminishing. May Allah grant cure to those who are struggling in any way, sick or ill…

But at the same time, let’s utilize the time we have properly and positively. At the same time, we should be reading Quran, we should be learning why we are here in this world…

Sometimes, we leave the world without knowing why we were here; that’s not good enough. Allah has blessed us with so much; it’s not about the rat race, it’s not about earning…

If it was all about wealth and materialistic items, we would be taking those straight through with us into the afterlife. But when we die, we are buried without our phones, without our cars, without our homes… without anything that we’ve had. All this is left behind.

This shows us that there is a greater picture. In fact, we leave behind our bodies as well; they’re in the grave and will be decomposed in a short time.

Value Your Time

The gift of time is such that we should use it in order to know why we have been made.

What did Allah create me?

I need answers.

For those answers, I need to spend time, I need to make an effort. And this is when I will be able to understand the gift of Allah upon me.

Let’s understand this gift of Allah. Not a day should go by without us having worshiped Allah correctly, in the way that He wants us to worship Him. Not a single prayer should be missed; we are to be fulfilling five prayers a day, not three, not four. If those five prayers are fulfilled, we need to understand the rest of the time we have should be used in order to achieve closeness to Allah.

This is what will help us the Day when time is no more, when time is destroyed by Allah; there will be nothing known as time when we get into Paradise. When time is destroyed eternity comes into play and existence. And then it would be inappropriate for us to ask what the time is because time no longer exists.

For now, we have some time, use it, don’t abuse it, don’t waste it.

May Allah help us utilize every moment, every day, every week, every month that we have in a way that when the years pass, I can see my achievements; I can see that I have progressed so that when I meet with Allah, I would be the happiest through the mercy of Allah.
