Imam Al-Hasan Al-Basry mentions an interesting note about the tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) in which all events and happenings are recorded by Allah –he says that Allah Almighty is in no need for writing down his knowledge or recording these events. But by doing so, He Almighty draws our attention to the importance of writing.
This is consistent with the Quran where we find a whole Surah named after the pen (Al-Qalam.) In this Surah, Allah Almighty swears by the Quran which is indicative of the honor and significance assigned to the pen.
That is no strange; the pen is the means of preserving knowledge; it is the means of passing it to future generations; and it is a means of documenting so many things that can be used for the benefit of mankind for years and years to come.
