Starting with Allah’s Name… What Does Basmalah Mean?

When we recite the Quran we start with Allah’s name. We say the famous phrase, “Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim“.

It is called Basmalah. 

So, what is the meaning of this statement?

And why it is recommended to begin important matters with it?
