This month that we just started is the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, and this month has very distinct quality to it in that this is the month in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born and every year, we come to hear of the conversation about whether or not to celebrate the day the Prophet was born…
Prophet Muhammad is one of the greatest blessings we’ve ever received. We know that Allah tells us in the Quran:
{Say, “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice} (10:58)
Be joyous in the fact that you have been given the Quran; be joyous that you have been given Islam; be joyous of being having Prophet Muhammad.
The Prophet is, by Allah’s description, the best of creation. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the master of this life and the master of the next life. Allah says in the Quran that:
{Verily Allah and His angels send prayers on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)}
So anything in the life of the believer that can engender just joy regarding the Prophet Muhammad, then just be joyous about it.
Of course the fact that Prophet Muhammad was born in this month is a joyous thing. And throughout the year, we should always be searching for things that grow us in love for the Prophet and make us more joyous about the Prophet (peace be upon him)
