Indonesian Airlines Provides In-Flight Qur’an for Ramadan

In special arrangements to mark the last 10 days of Ramadan, Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has been providing Qur’an to its passengers as part of its special in-flight service, The Jakarta Post reported.

“We’d like to provide comfort and convenience to our Muslim passengers during the final 10 days of Ramadan,” Garuda Indonesia vice president corporate secretary M. Ikhsan Rosan said in an official statement

Rosan added that the program aimed to facilitate Muslims during Ramadan.

He said that passengers could request the Quran from flight attendants and return it before arriving at their destination.

“We have also introduced an audio version of the Qur’an that can be found in our in-flight entertainment,” M. Ikhsan said, and that passengers could access the recording through the “Islamic World” menu.

This is not the first procedure taken by different airlines to accommodate Muslim passengers.

In January 2019, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) decided to welcome passengers with the famous Burda Sharif, an ode to the praise of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), instead of soft music.

Malaysia Airlines also launched in February 2019 the world’s first service dedicated for Muslim pilgrims traveling for Hajj and Umrah from countries in Southeast Asia.
