Based on the astronomical calculations of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Egypt, the newborn crescent of the fourth month of the Islamic Hijri year 1437 was observed today making tomorrow, Monday January 11, 2016 the first day of Rabi al-Thani.

The Astronomical New Moon (conjunction) was apparent today at 1:30 UTC. The moon was seen in the Americas with naked eye and with binoculars/telescopes in West Asia, Africa and Europe. Tomorrow, January 11, the crescent will be easily seen all over the world.

By calculations, Rabi al-Thani is expected to last till Tuesday February 9, 2016.
