ONTARIO – Six Muslim schools in the Greater Toronto Area scored perfect marks in the Fraser Institute’s annual ranking of Ontario elementary schools, with an Islamic school topping the list in the entire state, Global News reported.
This Report Card on Ontario’s Elementary Schools 2018, ranks 3,046 public and Catholic schools, and a small number of private schools, based on nine academic indicators derived from the results of province-wide tests of reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
For the 2017-2018 school year, the following Islamic schools all received perfect scores of 10, out of total 16 schools who achieved the record result:
Al-Risala Academy (Mississauga)
IQRA Islamic (Mississauga)
Islamic Foundation (Ajax)
Islamic Institute of Toronto (Toronto)
Islamic School of Cambridge (Cambridge)
Safa & Marwa (Mississauga)
“All too often, principals and teachers try to excuse a school’s poor overall performance by blaming the characteristics of its students or the communities they serve, but the Report Card shows that any school, no matter where it’s located or what challenges its students face, can succeed,” Peter Crowley, a senior fellow with the Fraser Institute’s School Performance Studies, said.
Meanwhile, a number of other Islamic schools across the province achieved a rating score of 9 and above, including:
Islamic School of Hamilton (9.9)
Al-Ameen, Brampton (9.5)
Wali ul Asr, Brampton (9.4)
ISNA Islamic, Mississauga (9.3)
Islamic Foundation, Toronto (9.2)
Wali ul Asr, Caledon (9.2)
Ahlul Bayt Islamic, Ottawa (9.1)
