MAKKAH – A heartwarming video showing a stranger coming to help a wheelchair-bound man who was performing tawaf on his own in the Grand Mosque in Makkah has garnered praise on social media, with many praising the kind act of the old stranger.

The video, shared by IlmFeed, shows a man on a wheel chair  performing tawaf (circling the Ka’bah) by operating the wheelchair using his hands.

He tells the camera that the first of the seven rounds has already made him tired.

Suddenly, an elderly man named Muhammad is seen pushing the young man’s wheelchair.

The old man starts to cry when the young man starts praying for him.

He becomes overwhelmed with emotions when he finds out the young man’s name is Umar Farooq – the same name of the second caliph of Islam.

At the end of the seven rounds, the two men hug each other and the old man is seen walking off, seeking no praise or reward.

Umrah is a minor pilgrimage to Mecca that is performed by Muslims at any time of the year, in contrast to the Hajj.

The word Umrah in Arabic language means “to visit a populated place.” In Islamic Shari`ah, Umrah means performing Tawaf around the Kaa`ba and Sa`i between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, after assuming Ihram (a sacred state), either from a Miqat.

According to official figures, the Saudi authorities issued 6.4 million visas for Umrah last year.
