Several Muslim athletes have sent `Eid greetings to the 1.8 billion Muslims around the globe, commending their spirit of Islamic solidarity and religious devoutness.

“Eid Mubarak to all my friends who celebrate. Bajram Serif Mubarek Oslun,” in both English and Bosnian, that’s how the Bosnian footballer Edin Džeko has greeted his fans on his official Facebook page on June 15.

`Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Hijri month of fasting. This religious feast is the first and only day in the 10th Hijri month of Shawwal during which Muslims aren’t permitted to fast.

Džeko’s `Eid greeting caption was atop a post from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Bosnia where he was pictured with some of his family members.

In November 2009, Džeko became Bosnia’s first UNICEF ambassador. The post of the UN organization reads: “With Congratulations to all who celebrate `Eid today, we continue to represent the superstar Edin Džeko.”

In another light greeting, the Turkish basketballer, Enes Kanter, posted on his official Facebook page a short video of his `Eid training session highlighted with a caption: “`Eid Day Work” and a Flexed Biceps emoji.

Kanter has also posted a video of the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the `Eid’s day that shows children from different countries greeting people for `Eid Al-Fitr in many languages.

Kanter captions the video with: “`Eid Mubarak to everyone. ‪May the day bring happiness and peace in this world.”

He has also posted a `Eid post and prayer for the Islamic World highlighting it with the sentence “Bayramınız Mübarek Olsun” in Turkish.

The famous Muslim Albanian winger Xherdan Shaqiri who plays for Switzerland also greeted his Facebook fans with a ‘`Eid photo showing him making Duaa on an Islamic design background and captioned with the Arabic greeting “`Eid Mubarak”.

On his behalf, the Muslim African American basketballer, Kenneth Faried, posted an ‘`Eid greeting saying: “EidMubarak, Follow my twitch account and you might be lucky enough to play a game of ‘fortnite Duos or Squads’ with my crew (infinite8vision & I). #MoreLikeHeDidAllTheWork #ImJustHerseToHaveFun #WeDiditForTheKids #Alhamdulillah #Bismillah.”

Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa, Morocco’s Medhi benatia, Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Cote d’Ivoire’s Yaya Toure, Ghana’s Alhassan Wakaso and a host of other African footballers have joined the sports world in celebrating `Eid Al-Fitr.

Musa and Abdullahi Shehu posted a video on Twitter for them and other officials of the Nigerian national team where they prayed the Eid prayer in a mosque in Kaliningrad, Russia before Nigeria’s World Cup opener against Croatia on June 16.

The Bosnian basketballer, Mirza Teletović, who plays as a Power Forward/Position 4 in America’s NBA greeted his Facebook fans with a picture of his family’s Eid gathering with a caption saying in Bosnian: “`Eid Mubarak from Teletovic family. Bajram Sheriff Mubarak happy to all my friends and those who celebrate… Love you, family teletovic.”
