Muslim Couple Share Wedding Buffet with London Homeless

LONDON – Making their wedding day memorable forever, a British Muslim couple has dedicated a share of their wedding buffet to the homeless and the less fortunate in their London borough, Ilmfeed reported.

“Our marriage is a blessed and memorable day for us. We wanted to express our gratitude for all the positive things in our lives and after speaking to our friend Dilwara we thought this would be an appropriate gesture,” Anna Begum and Zakareah Khan said.

“Our faith and beliefs influence us to help those who are less fortunate but we truly feel blessed to have such an amazing opportunity. We really wish we could do more and hope this will be an inspiration for other newlyweds to do something magical on their special day.”

The couple, from Barking & Dagenham London borough, ensured that a share of the food catered for friends, family, and friends was freshly packed and served to the less fortunate.

The packed food was collected by the One Third soup kitchen and distributed at tea time to hugely satisfied residents at the Brocklebank Lodge for homeless citizens in Barking & Dagenham.

The wedding guests praised the couple’s generous gesture.

This is not the first time a Muslim couple has demonstrated such kind gestures.

In 2016, a Turkish Muslim couple chose to distribute food to thousands of Syrians in the refugee camps.

The couple used trucks of Kimse Yok Mu, international nonprofit humanitarian aid and development organization based in Turkey, to deliver food.

As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, zakat or donating and charity is a religious obligation for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth. It’s a mandatory charitable contribution, the right of the poor to find relief from the rich, and is considered to be tax or obligatory alms.

Islamic Shari’ah also has another type of optional donation called Sadaqah. This term was used in the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah for both zakat and charity.
