BRADFORD – The 7th British Muslim Awards has been postponed for more than two weeks over concerns of snowfall and bad weather conditions.
The event was first planned to be held on January 30 in Bradford. The new date, announced on Facebook, is February 19th.
“Due to the amount of concerns we have received regarding the weather conditions, we have closely monitored the weather for the upcoming week,” British Muslim Awards page on Facebook announced.
“We would like to inform you that the 7th British Muslim Awards 2019 has been postponed. The date of the British Muslim Awards 2019 has been changed to Tuesday 19th of February 2019.
“We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.”
Three hundred of the most remarkable British Muslims have been shortlisted as finalists for the 7th rounds of the prestigious awards.
The finalists are divided into more than 30 categories, with around 10 finalists in each one.
According to a 2014 census, the total population of Muslims in the United Kingdom was estimated to be 3,114,992.
BBC also said that Islam is the fastest growing religion the northwestern European country, and its adherents have the lowest average age out of all the major religious groups.
The largest ethnic groups of Muslims in the UK are Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Smaller groups are Indians, Arabs, Kurds, Turks, and Africans.
