For nine centuries, Islam was the dominant religion in what is now Spain and Portugal. Although the fall of the Islamic rule and spread of Christian kingdoms led to the destruction of many Islamic monuments, mosques, and palaces, there are many mosques in today’s Spain that show the greatness of this era.
