Allah loved the prophet (pbuh) and the Prophet (pbuh) showed that love back through salah. 

Whenever he was in any difficulty, whenever anything worried him or when anything made him anxious, he would turn to prayer. His solution lied in putting his head to the ground and humbling himself in prayer.

He knew that if any calamity or bad news came, it did not happen without the knowledge of Allah, without His permission. Before the creation of the heavens and the earth Allah knew that this was going to happen and He knew how we would hear about it.
