Surah Ad-Duha, Chapter 93 in the Qur’an, has an important psychological and spiritual orientation, as explained in this talk by Sheikh Yasir Fahmy, Imam of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center.

This Surah is a very particular conversation Allah (SWT) has with Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, had received the first revelation through angel Gabriel at the cave of Hira’ in Makkah, and it was a great source of joy for him.

But a while later, the revelation was cut off for a time, some people say for up to six months, and this was a very hard time for the Prophet, peace be upon him.

With this background, the verses of Surah Ad-Duha were the first verses revealed to him after this temporary cessation of the revelation, which brought him great relief.

Allah (SWT) makes an oath with Ad-Duha (the early morning) that He had never abandoned you nor was He angry with you, as some of the people of Makkah claimed.

The main lesson here is that this world we live in is full of tests, and this was one of the tests the Prophet, peace be upon him, went through on his journey of faith in Allah.

All the followers of Muhammad, peace be upon him, should be aware of the nature of the tests they go through in life, and be prepared to deal with the hardships they face in this world.
