Reflections on Compassion from Spouses

Islam talks a lot about affection and compassion from spouses.

“And of His signs is that He has created for you, from yourselves, spouses that you may find tranquility in them and He has set among you love and compassion. Surely in this there are signs for thoughtful people.” (Surah Ar-Rum 30.21)

While growing interest in Islam, we have all heard or read how great and fair Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was with others.

The more we get to know our prophet, the easier it gets to feel connected to him. Despite many of us coming from different parts of the world, we dive in his story in search of advice, guidance and inspiration.

How did Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) cherish his wives?

In this video, Sheikh Asim Khan is talking about how our Prophet (pbuh) cherished Khadijah and Aisha, may Allah be pleased with them.

Let’s take a moment to ponder the fact that he began and ended his mission with a woman by his side.

Indeed, when Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) received the revelation for the first time he went directly to his wife Khadijah, not to anyone else. In other words, he knew she would comfort him.

Then on his last days, his wife Aisha stayed by his side. That is to say, he left this world in the arms of his wife, trusting that she will take care of him.

So, even being the most influential man in the Islamic history, he looked for the comfort of his beloved wives.  Therefore, what does it say for the rest of us?

Our Ummah needs to reflect upon the life of the last prophet of Allah, in order to value marriage bonds.
