A questioner wants to know how to perform the 4 sunnah rak’ah before dhur prayer? If a person wants to pray these 4 rak’ah before dhur prayer then the best way is to pray two rak’ah and then say tasleem and then another two rak’ah. 

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: ” the night prayer and day prayer are two rak’ah, two rak’ah, two rak’ah.” This hadith is authentic. If you want to pray the 4 rak’ah together, it is also allowed. 

There is another Hadith from At-Tirmidhi reported by Ali (RA) “the Prophet (PBUH) used to pray before Asr 4 rak’ah, in the middle he will say tasleem.”
