A questioner asks does Islam have apocalyptic beliefs and how does it differ from other religions?
The early chapters of the Quran actually spoke about a cataclysmic end of our entire system. The cosmos, the stars, everything will fold up and be in the right hand of God. 

The difference is that in the Quran, no specific date is mentioned nor are the markers clear enough for us to guess a specific date. Some Muslim thinkers have tried to make predictions before but it is not mentioned in the Quran. 

There are similarities with some beliefs in Christianity regarding Jesus (PBUH) coming back to earth. This is mentioned in the hadiths. Muslims believe when Jesus (PBUH) returns then the end of the world will be close.
