The ruling on looking at nudity in photos or in the mirror

Q:

I’ve seen so many fatwas saying that looking at nudity in the mirror ( reflection ) is not like the real life . So it’s not haram and it’s completely fine . And i have trust in you and wanted to know if that is true

A:

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad.

I do not think a real Muslim scholar would issue such a fatwa. If looking at a nude person is prohibited, it makes no difference whether one is looking directly at their physical body, their reflection on a mirror, or their photos. In all cases, such nudity arouses the watcher’s sexual desire and usually instigates a series of sexual thoughts and imaginations.  Islam aims to purify the hearts of its followers to create a society of chastity and modesty by blocking all means to illicit sexual activities.

Allah knows best.
