Q:

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullah ya Syaikh

What are the Nullifiers of Islam? And what kind of doubt(s) that’s able to put someone beyond the pale of Islam?

A:

Wa alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Thank you for your good question.

In fact, Islam is in harmony with reason and logic. Also, it is not in conflict with scientific research and studies. It further promotes science and intellectual discourse.

Therefore, if someone has some questions or doubts, he/she should look for answers through reliable scholars. One is advised to go for religious counselling and advice when he or she is in need of. Local imams and scholars may be contacted for answers for religious questions that community members may have about Islam.

Moreover, no one is entitled to judge people’s faith for having questions and looking for answers. Rather, dialogue and scholarly discussions are recommended.

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.

Q:

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullah ya Syaikh

Is every word of the sahaba of Rasulullah, the tabi’in, and the tabi’ut tabi’in (al-salaf al-ṣāliḥ) should be followed (even if we don’t know based on what Hadeeth and/or Qur’anic Verse of their words)?

A:

Wa alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Thank you for your good question.

We do, of course, revere, love, and respect the true scholars of our Ummah throughout generations, let alone the Sahabah and the Salaf. We accept what is in harmony with the Qur’an and the Sunnah. We also consider changes in times, conditions, places, etc., that may lead to the changes of the ijtihad.

Blind imitation is not acceptable. Therefore, scholars in every time should do ijtihad to guide their communities to what is in harmony with the Qur’an the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him).

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.

Q:

A couple of years ago, I was going through an extremely tough time and was slightly emotionally unstable for a few days. In a fit of rage, I ripped up a Qur’an and threw it on the ground a couple of times, and destroyed some other items as well. This was happening during Ramadan, which I think added to my stress because of fasting (and possibly my sin as well). I know I said I was emotionally unstable when I tore the Qur’an, but I still did indeed have a good amount of control over myself at the time of this incident, so I know I wasn’t exempt from the great amount of sin I gained. My mother told me that there was a certain kind of repentance I needed to make for doing something as severe as that, but I wasn’t able to find it on this site or anywhere else online. So what exactly should I do as repentance for tearing up the Qur’an? I still have all the torn pages as well as the damaged book in a basket.

Thank you for your good question.

May Allah Almighty forgive you and accept your repentance. You need to maintain sincere repentance by regretting what you did and resolving not to do it again. Sincere repentance wipes away all sins. So, never lose hope in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

Allah Almighty says, “O My servants who have wronged against their souls! Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. For Allah forgives all sins; for He is indeed Forgiving, Compassionate.” (Az-Zumar 39:53) And, He says, “Whoever commits a sin or wrongs himself, then (repents and) seeks Allah’s forgiveness, will find Allah Forgiving, Compassionate.” (An-Nisa’ 4:110)

Try to frequently make istighfar (seek Allah’s forgiveness), make dhikr, and do as much as you could of optional acts of worship such as prayers, fasts, and charities.

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.

Q:

I am an adult now and I don’t believe in superpowers. But i watch cartoons since they usually don’t have bad things and contain good teachings.  Will it be haram to watch cartoons where some characters have superpowers like ,they can see someone’s future for 5 mins, or detect lies etc? I know that no one can do this but Allah, but will just watching make one a sinner? Is there any quranic or hadith evidence?  Jazakallah.

Thank you for your good question.

In fact, it may be beneficial to read literary works if the theme and the content are good as long as you don’t ignore your duties. You may also watch cartoons provided that the theme is good and this doesn’t negatively affect you in any way.

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.

Q:

Salam. I’m 28 years old. I’ve believed in Islam since I was a teenager up until now but have been very inconsistent with my prayers and fasts. There have been times throughout my life where I was praying all fard prayers and sunnah prayers, times where I was not praying at all, and times where I was only praying one or two of the fard prayers. This also is the case for my Ramadan fasts. I’ve calculated that I owe about 30,000 salats (assuming that I hit puberty at age 12) and I owe several Ramadan’s worth of fasts. Can I do my best to make up all of these obligatory acts that I failed to do in the past? Or should I just repent from here on out and try my best to be timely and not miss things anymore. I’m always confused about this because I’ve heard that there are two opinions. I understand both and would like to know which to follow because I don’t want to miss taraweeh and activities at the Mosque during the next Ramadan unless I absolutely have to. Thank you.

Wa alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh

Thank you for your good question.

I, first of all, pray to Allah Almighty to accept your repentance. You should never lose hope in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. Allah says, “O My servants who have wronged against their souls! Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. For Allah forgives all sins; for He is indeed Forgiving, Compassionate.” (Az-Zumar 39:53)

And, He says, “Whoever commits a sin or wrongs himself, then (repents and) seeks Allah’s forgiveness, will find Allah Forgiving, Compassionate.” (An-Nisa’ 4:110)

So, you need to maintain sincere repentance and frequently seek Allah’s forgiveness.

As for making up for years of missed fasts and prayers, as you have said there are two valid opinions among scholars in this regard. So, you may try your best to make up for missed prayers and fasts without overburdening yourself. You may fast some days, if you are capable to, in the winter time when the daytime is short. And, whenever it is possible you may pray with each fard that you perform another fard in lieu of what you missed in the past. Thus, for instance, before or after praying Zhuhr, pray another four rak`ahs of Zhuhr as qada’ and so on.

Moreover, you may do optional acts of worship such as optional prayers, fasts, and charities, whenever you are capable to.

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.

Q:

Some videos in U tube showing near Madina a palace in the jabal Habshi hill is dajjal palace. What is the true about this palace

A:

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Thank you for your good question.

In fact, there is nothing in the Quran, Hadith texts, or scholarly works that indicates that the Dajjal (Anti-Christ) has a palace in that region, let alone in Madinah.

Moreover, there are a number of authentic ahadith that indicate that the Madinah is protected, by the Will of Allah Almighty, from the Dajjal who couldn’t enter it. For instance, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be on him) said, “On the roads to Madinah are angels; neither plague nor Ad-Dajjal may enter it.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

As for the hadith that recorded by Imam Ahmad that the Prophet said “The Dajjal will come, climb on top of Jabal Habshi, look at Madinah, and say to his Companions: Do you see this white palace? This is the mosque of Ahmad”, it is clear that what is meant by “the palace” in this hadith is the mosque of the Prophet (peace be on him) in Madinah. Also, this hadith has an indication of how great the construction of the Prophet’s mosque at that time. Now, it is of a very great construction; if looked at from a distance, it appears to be like a palace.

Q:

Salaam Alaikum, whilst i was praying isha, in the silent rakats i have great difficulty with pronunciation, especially when i say ‘Allahu Akbar’ to go into ruku, because of this whilst i was moving to go into ruku from my standing position i paused midway for a second or maybe less to be able to say ‘Allahu Akbar’ between the movements, if i didn’t paused; i would’ve say the takbeer while in ruku due to my slow recitation, so my Question is, is my prayer valid even though i paused my movement for a second midway going down into ruku? May Allah bless you

Thank you for your good question.

Your Salah (prayer) is valid and rewardable, in shaa’ Allah.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) gave glad tidings to those who read the Quran with difficulty saying, “Whoever recites the Quran and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes (in Heaven). And, whoever exerts himself/herself to learn the Qur’an by heart and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Meanwhile, you may join some Arabic classes to improve your Arabic and easily recite Quran.

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.
