Back to School – 5 Ways to Get Yourself Ready

As we say goodbye to the lazy days of summer, it’s time to turn our attention to the new school year.

Whether you’re a high school student or you’re now in college, make the often harsh transition a lot easier with these five practical tips.

1. Reset Your Daily Schedule

Two of the biggest keys to a student’s success are getting enough sleep and sticking to a consistent routine.

So now it’s time to slowly move bedtimes and wake up times back to what they should be during the school year. You can do this gradually over one or two weeks. If meal times or other regular routines have changed over the summer vacation, reset those as well.

2. Organize Your Work-place and Supplies

If you’re done with back to school shopping, start organizing your supplies. Stock all what you need in an organized way so that you can reach them easily.

If you’re buying a new computer, make sure to set it up before the first day of school

3. Get in the Mode

Summer holiday might have made you forget about the great achievements and/or challenges of last year. A quick review will energize you for the new school year, it can also help you identify areas you might want to work on more this semester.

4. Set Goals for Yourself

Setting goals (and sticking with them) is an important skill students of all ages can learn. Instead of vague goals like “getting good grades,” come up with SMART and specific goals.

5. Renew Your Intention and Get Started!

As Muslims, our intention in doing anything really matters. If you have good intentions, you’ll not only get worldly gains but you’ll get rewards from Allah.

Renew your intention about seeking knowledge as a way of obedience to God and to benefit your Ummah with whatever you learn.
