How to Make Hungarian Lecsó – Authentic Hungarian Recipe

In this video, you’ll learn how to make a super easy and traditional hearty Hungarian dish called Lecsó. This meal is very quick and easy to make, it is especially suited to people who don’t have much time to cook like busy professionals and students!

All you need is a few simple ingredients, it only takes a few minutes to cook. Super easy and quick!

Ingredients (Serves 2):

3 green peppers (hot) but you can use mild also
3 yellow peppers (mild)
3 tomatoes
2-3 onions
A few slices of european cured sausage like chorizo or csabai (optional)
A few slices of crusty bread (optional but highly recommended)

Method:

Slice the peppers into thick circles
Slice the onion into small pieces
Slice each tomato into 4 sections
Put a small amount of olive oil in a large pan
Add chopped onions and cook until soft
Add tomatoes and cook until soft
Add pepper and cook until soft
Add the sausage, then cover for approx 5 minutes
eason with red pepper / hungarian paprika and salt and pepper to taste
Simmer for an additional 1-2

Serving suggestion:
Serve with crusty bread, or on its own. If you have any leftovers, you can put them in the fridge and have it cold the following day. This dish is very versatile and can be eaten on bread or sandwiches hot or cold in any way.

Variations:
Feel free to substitute the sausage with bacon, or if you are a vegetarian you don’t need to add meat at all. You can also add rice to the dish, or an egg. Experiment with different ingredients and create your own version! I like mine spicy!
