Malaysians Are the Lucky Ones – Maher Zain Tour Announced!

Malaysian fans can rejoice! Islamic popstar Maher Zain has announced The Maher Zain Malaysia Tour 2019 beginning March 9th in Kuala Lumpur at the Axiata Arena.

Malaysian fans have always been among the best supporters of Zain. Even though he doesn’t speak Malay, Zain has thanked Malaysian fans previously by recording some of his best songs into Malay, including “InsyaAllah” and “For The Rest Of My Life” (“Sepanjang Hidup’’).

There are four shows planned:

  • March 9 – Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur
  • March 15 – Pasir Gudang Stadium, Johor
  • March 16 – SPICE Arena, Penang
  • March 17 – Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

It has been five years since Zain, last performed a concert in Malaysia at Dataran Putrajaya. Fans have several new hits and beautiful songs to look forward to hearing in person, though Zain teases,

“I can’t give you any hints as it will spoil the fun. If you want to find out what the surprises are, you’ll have to come to the show.”

Zain says he is looking forward to eating satay and enjoying Malaysia’s natural scenery.

In the long periods between concerts, Zain has said that he enjoys staying out of the spotlight and living a quiet life in Sweden. Still, he sees it as a duty to use his immense platform and privilege to highlight issues affecting Muslims, such as Rohingya Muslims in Burma and Syrian refugees.

Zain’s artistic contributions have been widely recognized by both Muslims and mainstream media, including winning Best Religious Song for ‘Ya Nabi Salam Alayka’, on Nogoum FM, a major Middle East mainstream music station, recording with Irfan Makki and Atif Aslam,  and being featured on Colors of Peace project. While touring Malaysia this spring. 50,000 people are expected to attend the two-hour concerts, in which he has promised to perform 20 songs a night, including the Malay ones.
