Answer
Wa `alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
Generally speaking, no one has control over wet dreams. Therefore, you do simply need to perform ghusl to be eligible for Prayers.
Responding to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states,
You don’t need to worry about these dreams as long as you do not deliberately harbor those thoughts while you are awake. This is the work of Satan, who is our sworn enemy. He is determined to lead us astray by using all kinds of methods even devious or stealthy.
Therefore, you need not to dwell on these dreams; rather you need to repel the whispering of Satan by seeking refuge in Allah.
I would urge you to get a copy of the excellent book, INVOCATION OF GOD by Ibn al-Qayyim; it discusses the devious ways of Satan and prescribes methods of repelling them. It also expounds on the benefits of dhikr and its effect in defeating Satan. So, get a copy of this excellent book; study it and practice its lessons. You will never be disappointed.
Allah Almighty knows best.
