Three Children Are Enough!

10 March, 2019
Q As-salamu `Alaikum, Is it wrong in Islam if we were to take precaution for pregnancy as we have 3 children currently and we might not be financially stable. Or should we have more?

Answer

In this counseling answer:

“Islamically, there is nothing wrong with your need to delay having more children, as long as there has been a mutual agreement between the both of you, but who knows what blessings lay in store in the children you would have had.”

As-salamu ‘Alaykum,

Al hamdu Lillah, and ma sha ‘Allah you have 3 children, and may Allah bless you with more in sha ‘Allah. Allah (SWT) has obviously blessed you with the ability to have children for reasons that we may not be aware of. Only He can see what our full options are, and what lessons we fail to learn by the choices we make.

Islamically, there is nothing wrong with your need to delay having more children, as long as there has been a mutual agreement between the both of you, but who knows what blessings lay in store in the children you would have had.

Additionally,  one must be careful of ones choices in forms of contraceptive as there could be a negative effect on ones physical health. So, whatever you decide, make sure it is an informed opinion.

We wish you the best.
