Peace be upon you dear questioner,

Thank you so much for asking such an important question.

What Are The Virtues of Surat Al Baqarah?

Indeed, Surat Al Baqarah has enormous value and great rewards in this life and the next.

Surat Al Baqarah, the second chapter of the Quran, helps protect the person who recites it against the evil eye, witchcraft, evil whispers, and it also brings immense barakah (blessing and prosperity) into one’s time and overall peace in life.

Among the hadiths that discuss this are the following:

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported,

I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, ‘Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited.’ (Muslim)

So, it dispels Satan from the house and brings more peace when it’s maintained in a household.

Also, this hadith speaks of its reward on the Day of Resurrection as well as the blessings it adds to one’s current life. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah and Surah Al ‘Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqarah, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it. [Mu’awiya said: It has been conveyed to me that here batala means magicians.] (Sahih Muslim)

The Last Two Verses

Other hadith talk about the value of the last two verses of Surat Al Baqarah

Abu Mas’ud Al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying, ‘He who recites the two Ayat [verses] at the end of Surat Al Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.’ (Al- Bukhari and Muslim)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

Indeed Allah wrote in a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and He sent down two Ayat [verses] from it to end Surat Al Baqarah with. If they are recited for three nights in a home, no Shaitan [devil] shall come near it. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi)

So, try to incorporate reciting the last two verses of Surat Al Baqarah in your daily routine and your morning and evening remembrance.

And also try to recite the Surah in its entirety as frequently as you can while pondering its meanings, acting upon its wisdom and trying to carry those verses in your heart by memorization so it brings constant light in one’s heart.

May Allah enable us all to bring His verses into our hearts and make them a means of illuminating our hearts and our lives and our graves and grant us the best status in the afterlife. Ameen!

I hope this answers your question. Please keep in touch.

Salam.
