British Columbia Mosques Plan to Open Doors in February

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Mosques across Canada’s British Columbia have announced plans to open their doors in February, welcoming people of the wider community to know more about Islam and Muslims.

“‘Open Mosque Days’ have become a great way of bridging the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims around the globe,” OpenMosqueBC reported.

“For the first time, we have united major Mosques across BC to host a province-wide “Open Mosque Day” on Saturday, February 16th, 2019, from 10 am to 3 pm,” the website added.

Visit My Mosque Day is held annually in a number of countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, Norway, and France.

The first-ever Visit My Mosque Day in Canada took place on Sunday, October 15, 2017.

British Columbia Mosques Plan to Open Doors in February - About Islam

Visitors coming to different mosques will be offered “delicious snacks, friendly faces, and wonderful conversations,” according to Muslim link.

“Our volunteers will help you with a tour of the Mosque and a display of various themes surrounding Islam and Muslims,” it added.

“There will be henna tattooing and Hijab tryouts for kids and women. So, we encourage everyone to find the closest participating mosque near you and visit it with your friends and family.”

Muslims make up 3.2 percent of Canada’s population making Islam the second largest religion in the country after Christianity.
