WASHINGTON, DC – Rejecting US President Donald Trump’s decision to move the US embassy to Al-Quds, an American Muslim group will hold a Friday prayer and rally in front of the White House on December 8 to protest the controversial move.

“Join AMP and a large group of allies for a mass demonstration in front of the White House on Friday, December 8,” American Muslims for Palestine group wrote on Facebook.

The rally plan followed Trump’s Wednesday announcement recognizing Al-Quds, Occupied Jerusalem, as the capital of Israel and moving the US embassy there.

“This dangerous move contravenes decades of US foreign policy and will only serve to inflame the situation on the ground,” AMP said.

The rally and sermon, organized by the Falls Church, Virginia-based charity, will be led by speaker and imam, Sheikh Omar Suleiman.

“AMP believes that declaring Jerusalem as Israel’s capital threatens not only Palestinians who are being ethnically cleansed, but also US interests, its standing, and any possibility of being an “honest broker” in the Middle East,” the group added.

Israel occupied the holy city and the West Bank in the 1967 war and later annexed it in a move not recognized by the international community or UN resolutions.

Since then, Israel has adopted a series of oppressive measures to force the Palestinians out of the city, including systematic demolition of their homes and the building of illegal Israeli settlements.
