Session is over.

Can I authorize a company to distribute my udhiyyah?

Yes. There is no problem at all.

When I went for Hajj, I did not perform tawaf wada. Is my hajj valid?

You must slaughter a sheep or one seventh of a camel or one seventh of a cow and distribute it to the poor people of Mecca.

I live in Jeddah. What type of hajj should I perform?

You can perform any of the three types of hajj depending on your time and circumstances.

Almighty Allah knows best.

Can I perform hajj in fulfilment of a vow before performing obligatory hajj?

Your hajj will be held as the obligatory pillar of Islam. In this case, you do not need to make another hajj as a vow. The vow you have already committed will be directed to the obligatory hajj.

Last year, I forgot takbir while throwing pebbles. Is my hajj valid?

Your hajj is valid. Saying takbir is a recommended act which is performed during the throwing of pebbles.

Can I delay throwing pebbles until after dark?

There is no problem at all in case it is difficult due to large crowds.

Assalamu Alaikum. Homosexuality is disallowed not only in Islam but in other religions too. But for a very long time I've wanted to know that is being homosexual natural? Or is it something some people just develop over time? I know that to study about science I should go to some science site but the reason I'm not is because obviously a lot of scientific articles these days can be biased. The author will just 'scientifically prove' what they like better and what's more acceptable in the society they live in. So, can you enlighten me on the actual scientific side of homosexuality?

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

The answer to this question depends on how you define “natural.” If natural means genetically or biologically determined, then homosexuality is not natural.

Decades of scientific research have failed to find a “gay gene” or a sole biological cause for same-sex attraction.

The American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and even gay researchers recognize that homosexuality cannot be reduced to biology alone.

Instead, they acknowledge that social factors seem to play a key role in the development of homosexuality. No evidence suggests that it’s natural for some people to be born gay.

Sometimes “natural” refers to design. Something is natural if it is functioning the way it was designed to function. But homosexual behavior isn’t natural in this sense, either.

It goes against the natural function of the body. Male and female bodies can fit together naturally because their genes have fashioned their sexual anatomies to complement one another. Their reproductive organs work together harmoniously to produce new humans—a clear indication that natural design favors heterosexual rather than homosexual unions.

Homosexuality is “natural” in one sense, though. It occurs in nature in the sense that some humans do engage in homosexual behavior.

Gay advocates argue that if it occurs in nature, then it’s morally appropriate. But to conclude it is moral simply because it happens with some frequency commits an error in thinking known as the is-ought fallacy.

Just because a behavior is occurring doesn’t mean it ought to be considered moral.

After all, if you accept the natural status quo as moral, then every behavior seems to pass the morality test: murder, rape, and theft all occur in nature.

Some animals kill their young or abandon wounded family members. Others cannibalize their mates. These behaviors occur more frequently than homosexuality, yet we wouldn’t give blanket approval to them just because they’re natural in this sense.

A man swear oath to me in name of Allah he would do something for me. Then he broke the oath. I confronted him. He admitted that his intention was to give me false assurance from the start. He simply used the name of Allah to deceive me because it would serve his selfish interest at the time. He thinks he is all good with Allah because he gave kaffara. (He even planned ahead he would give kaffara so that he is clear with Allah). I asked him what manner of thinking is this? Isn't this just using Islam and my trust in Allah to deceive me? Is he still bound to the oath he gave me in Allah's view? Is his kaffara valid? Will Allah hold him accountable?

The engulfing oath (yamin ghamus), which is to swear by Allah that one did or did not do something in the past, while deliberately lying about it, is a major sin so enormous that no expiation is due, since expiation is not enough to lift the sin. Rather, one must make sincere repentance and seek Allah’s forgiveness.

Yes. Abu Amr (also called Abu Abdullah and also Abu Laila) from Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: After the burial of a dead man, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would stand by the grave and say, “Ask Allah to forgive your brother and supplicate for him for steadfastness because he is being questioned (about his deeds) now.” (Abu Dawud)

Asslamu alaikum wrmatullahi wabrakat ya sheikh. I am a student of cost engineering from Nigeria. My question is that" What are best Du'a (supplication) that i will recite when i enter or am about to enter the examination hall?

It was narrated that Abu Musa said: “The Prophet (peace be upon him) heard me saying: ‘La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (there is no power and no strength except with Allah).’ He said: ‘O ‘Abdullah bin Qais! Shall I not tell you of a word which is one of the treasures of Paradise?’ I said: ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’ He said: ‘Say: La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no power and no strength except with Allah).'”   (Sunan Ibn Majah)

AsSalaamAlaikum. I ask your ruling on the hijab for older sisters. I am an older sister, but also have sever health issues. These health issues restrict me physically, and my body thermometer is broken. If I become even the slightest over heated I blackout for minutes or even a few hours. The summer weather being a terrible ordeal for me. So without going into great detail on my situation I need your help on hijab for someone of my age and poor health. I'm often being given conflicting advice. I know that us older sisters come under slightly different hijab rules. I still wear an Abaya, and clothing that does mask my female form. However, when it comes to the head, hair and neck area due to poor health I don't cover my neck. My Abaya have collars which in part covers my neck. I do however cover my hair completely, cover my ears too. So what is the rule for us older sisters? I look forward to your help on this matter. Thank you. Jahaan.

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Allah says what means,

{And the Qawa’id among women who do not hope for marriage, it is no sin on them if they discard their (outer) clothing in such a way as not to show their adornment. But to refrain is better for them. And Allah is all-Hearer, all-Knower.} (An-Nur 24: 60)

The great scholar of Tafsir, Imam Ibn Kathir writes in his famous exegesis (tafsir) of the Qur’an:

“The meaning of “Qawa’id” is: those women who no longer think that they can bear children, and the meaning of “who do not hope for marriage” is that they no longer have any desire for marriage. Other commentators have stated the meaning as: “Those women from whom desire and sexual passion is not (typically) acquired.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 3/406)

The meaning of “discarding their garment” as explained by Imam Ibn Kathir narrating from Ibn Abbas and others is: “The Jilbab or Rida (outer clothing)”. Meaning, old women do not have to cover themselves with the outer garment under the condition that they do not adorn themselves.

The great Hanafi scholar and Mufassir, Imam Abu Bakr al-Jassas writes in his book Ahkam al-Qur’an:

“There is no difference of opinion amongst the scholars, in that an old woman’s hair is part of her nakedness (awrah), thus it will not be permissible for a non-Mahram to look at the hair of an old woman. If she performed her Salat with her hair exposed, her Salat will be invalid. The meaning here is that, she has to cover her hair, however it is permissible for her to discard the cloak, and expose her face and hands because desire is not gained by looking at her.”

From the above, we can conclude that the Hijab is also necessary for the elderly. However, it is permissible for old women to keep their face and hands exposed and not wear the outer cloak, provided they do not adorn themselves and there is no fear of Fitna.

Is there any evidence in quran or authentic hadith about sihr?

Yes there are many. Allah says, what means:

{And they followed what the devils pursued during Solomon’s reign and Solomon did not turn faithless, but it was the devils who were faithless teaching the people magic, and what was sent down to the two angels at Babylon, Harout and Marout, and they would not teach anyone without telling] him [,” We are only a test, so do not be faithless.” But they would learn from those two that with which they would cause a split between man and his wife though they could not harm anyone with it except with Allah’s leave. And they would learn that which would harm them and bring them no benefit; though they certainly knew that anyone who buys it has no share in the Hereafter. Surely, evil is that for which they sold their souls; had they known.} (Al-Baqarah 2:102)

According to the ḥadīth reports, the Prophet was bewitched by a man and the witchcraft caused him physical suffering.

One of the shortest versions of the story is given by Ahmad ibn Ḥanbal in his al-Musnad:

“The Prophet was bewitched by a Jew. The Prophet suffered from it for days. Gabriel came to the Prophet and said: “A Jew has bewitched you. He tied a knot against you and placed it in such and such well. Send someone to fetch it.” The Prophet sent Ali who retrieved the knot, brought it with him and disassembled it. The Prophet got up as if he had been released from shackles. The Jew was not told and the Prophet never met him.”

Other versions of the hadith give further details:

The caster of the spell is identified as Labid ibn Asam but he is not always a Jew. According to one version he is an allied to the Jews and a hypocrite (munafiq), i.e. a person converted to Islam but not a true believer. Other versions are silent of his religious identity but only mention that he belonged to Banu Zurayq.

It has been suggested to me that the following sections of the Qur' an 2.65, 5.6 and 7.166 essentially inspire or institutionalize anti-Semitism. I've read these sections and I can't see it. They seem to refer to those who commit certain actions, such as not observing the sabbath but does this apply to all believers of the Jewish faith? Are all Jews transgressors in the eyes of Islam. If so, why?

These verses refer to certain groups of Jews who committed certain evil actions. It is not permissible to generalize our judgements to all people or all Jews as long as they did not commit those sins.

The Prophet defended his camel of being accused of something she did not do. When the Prophet’s riding-beast knelt down, people said twice: Go on, go on, al-Qaswa has become jaded. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: She has not become jaded and that is not a characteristic of hers, but He Who restrained the elephant has restrained her. (Abu Dawood, Sunan, 2765)

I wanted to ask, Is it haram for a woman to upload gaming videos on youtube? even if there is no violence or inappropriate stuff in the game? Life, for example, if I upload a video of me playing a pokemon game or minecraft, is it haram?

There is no harm as long as those games do not include any nudity or include anything unlawful such as Music, etc.
