Ramadan Reflections

There is one month of the year that Muslims eagerly await the countdown

It is the blessed month of Ramadan; the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar

It falls on different dates each year, thus it has no seasonal boundaries, making each memory so more remarkable

Muslims fast from dawn till sunset. To the mortal eye, they abstain from food and drink

But, there is so much more to it than a mere act of physical abstinence; that is the spiritual awakening

In the Quran, we learn about this rejuvenation:

Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may learn piety and righteousness. (Quran 2:183)

Muslims haste in Ramadan to do even more good deeds. The Quran was revealed in Ramadan, which makes it the month of Quran; echoing serene and beautiful daily recitations and night prayers; at homes and in mosques

Muslims hasten to feed and clothe the needy, hosting breaking the fast banquets, sharing gifts in Ramadan as well as in Eid

Eid marks the end of Ramadan; it comes with the sighting of the new moon of the tenth month of Shawwal

It is celebrated by a congregational prayer; bringing families and friends together in harmonious celebrations with festive attire and delectable cuisines

If you haven’t yet, we would be delighted to have you join us this Ramadan in a unique journey of spirituality and unity

May you have a blessed Ramadan
